About/Bio

“call me Steph”

Name’s Stephanie but you can call me Steph. I am credited as Steph Kong or Stephanie Kong :)

I am mostly a make up artist (but soon to be venturing out into the unknown realms of hair-styling); I am also my puppy’s cook, a sometimes crafter and an avid Russophile.

Just so you know, I am self-taught at make up application but I am attending a course just to see if I can learn anything new to hone my skills, and to get a nifty piece of paper telling you that I’m the real deal. My education background was in Science, but I was drawn to the transformative powers of makeup and I have never looked back since I put down the test tubes to take up the makeup brush professionally. It didn’t help that being stuck in a laboratory is as boring as it sounds and even has detrimental effects on your psyche :P

I may look young but I’ve been doing make up (although not on a commercial basis) for half a decade now and it’s only gonna get better! So don’t let my age fool you, I am fantastic. *toots own horn* wooohoo!

Back in 2009, I was a finalist for a Shu Uemura make up competition!

products i use

Everything that I use on my models or clients are products that I have personally tested out and liked. I use products from cosmetics brands such as MAC Cosmetics, Chanel, Urban Decay, Estee Lauder, Shu Uemura and NARS. I also support independent make up brands such as Beaute Cosmetics (most divine lip products) and Sugarpill Cosmetics.

Most of my brushes are by MAC Cosmetics, Louise Young Cosmetics, or by Hakuho-do, a Japanese brush company that makes the softest brushes I’ve ever laid hands on.
